The two sides of energy

In Ayurveda, there are two strategies for strengthening prana: building and protecting. Both are necessary — and both are often neglected.

Construction

Freshly cooked meals, conscious breathing, daylight in the morning, gentle exercise. These are the sources from which prana is fed.

Protection

Conscious media consumption, breaks from stimulation, a loving environment, and sleep before 10 p.m. These are the limits that preserve prana.

Energy is not a state that you achieve. It is a balance that you maintain every day.
