According to Ayurveda, poor sleep rarely has a single cause. Your Dosha is crucial - because Vata, Pitta and Kapha sleep fundamentally differently.

Vata

The restless sleeper

Your thoughts race. You fall asleep, wake up at 2 or 3 a.m., and can't find your way back. Sleep is light, sometimes fraught with anxiety. Vata needs warmth, rhythm, and regularity.

Going to bed at the same time every night is no small matter — it's medicine.

Pitta

The Hot Sleeper

You sleep soundly but intensely. Vivid dreams, waking up at night with inner restlessness or pressure, and sometimes overheating. Pitta needs cooling and relief.

No heavy conversations in the evening — cool room temperature instead of stimulation.

Kapha

The Hot Sleeper

Do you sleep long and deeply, but still wake up feeling heavy and groggy? That indicates an imbalance of Kapha. Too much sleep can even increase Kapha.

Getting up earlier, no midday nap, exercise in the morning — that brings back lightness.
